    The 2020 Ram 1500 Big Horn (marketed as the Lone Star in Texas) was a cornerstone of the Ram lineup, hitting the sweet spot between a spartan work truck and a high-end luxury vehicle. It offered buyers a well-equipped, stylish, and highly customizable package at a competitive price.

    Key Features & Powertrains
    The Big Horn/Lone Star provided a versatile range of engine choices. The standard powertrain was a 3.6L Pentastar V6 with eTorque, a mild-hybrid system delivering 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque. For greater capability, buyers could opt for the legendary 5.7L HEMI V8, producing 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque. An optional version of the HEMI also featured the eTorque system for improved efficiency and refinement. A high-torque 3.0L EcoDiesel V6 (480 lb-ft) was also available, prized for towing and fuel economy. All engines were paired with a smooth 8-speed automatic transmission.

    Inside, the Big Horn featured upgraded cloth seats and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. While a 5-inch Uconnect screen was standard, the trim's main appeal was its extensive options. Buyers could add equipment groups that included the highly-rated Uconnect 4 system with an 8.4-inch or class-leading 12-inch touchscreen, complete with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Heated seats, a heated steering wheel, and advanced driver-assistance aids were also common options.

    Ride Quality and Safety
    A key differentiator for the 2020 Ram 1500 was its standard multi-link coil-spring rear suspension. This class-exclusive feature provided a significantly smoother and more composed ride compared to the traditional leaf-spring setups of its rivals, making it an excellent daily driver.

    Safety was a standout attribute. The 2020 Ram 1500 Crew Cab earned a five-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). It was also named a Top Safety Pick+ by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) when equipped with optional front crash prevention and specific adaptive LED headlights, representing the highest possible safety designation from both organizations.
