Not every used Subaru can be certified. The ones that earn it have passed a 152-point inspection, come with a CARFAX® report showing a clean title and carry factory-backed powertrain coverage to 7 years or 100,000 miles, with no deductible.1,2
Subaru Certified Pre-Owned is a factory program, not a label a dealership can print on its own. To qualify, a used car has to clear Subaru's 152-point inspection, have anything that falls short repaired or replaced, and come with a CARFAX® report showing a clean title.
That process earns its keep in Ocala. A car here might spend its first few years on farm lanes, on sandy roads through the Ocala National Forest and in parking lots with the A/C working overtime. The odometer can't tell you how those miles went. A 152-point inspection and a CARFAX report get you a lot closer.
Subaru's track record helps, too. The company reports that 97% of the vehicles it sold in the last 10 years are still on the road today.3
Subaru's checklist follows the car from the records to the final detail. Here is how it breaks down.3
Hybrid models add their own section, covering the service plug, battery charging and the battery cooling fan. Models with an EV battery get a charging test with a 70% minimum.

If a car is nearly due for scheduled maintenance, or has no service record, that maintenance gets done as part of certification.
What most shoppers call the CPO warranty is, in Subaru's words, a factory-backed 7-year/100,000-mile powertrain vehicle service agreement with no deductible.1,2 It covers engine, transaxle and differential components, not the whole car, and any time left on the factory warranties stays with the car as well. That includes the New Vehicle Limited Warranty, which covers the entire vehicle, subject to its exclusions, for 3 years or 36,000 miles.4
Here's the part worth knowing before you compare cars: those 7 years count from the vehicle's original warranty start date, not the day you buy it. A certified Subaru that's 3 years past that date has about 4 years of the term left, as long as it's still under 100,000 miles. Ask us for that date on any certified car you're comparing.
Years from the original warranty start date
Bars show years only. Each term also ends at its mileage limit, so a high-mileage car can reach it sooner.
Want Coverage Beyond the Powertrain?Subaru's optional Added Security Gold Plus plan is its most comprehensive mechanical coverage. It covers all major systems, including wear and tear of covered components and advanced technology like EyeSight, and leaves out a short list, including maintenance items, body parts, glass, brake pads, wiper blades, hoses, belts and batteries. For covered repairs, it also includes towing, rental car reimbursement and trip interruption benefits, plus 24-hour emergency roadside assistance.9

A regular used car can still be the right call, especially if you're comfortable vetting it yourself, and we sell those, too.

See All Certified CarsOcala and Marion County are known as the Horse Capital of the World, and the driving here varies: horse farms and the World Equestrian Center on the northwest side, forest roads past Silver Springs and the daily run down SW College Road. Three checklist items suit that driving especially well: the A/C test for Florida summers, the tread check for afternoon downpours and the look at struts, axles and CV boots for everything that isn't pavement.
Whether you're in Ocala proper, Silver Springs Shores, Belleview or Dunnellon, the current certified list is online, so you can narrow it down before you head over. Once the car is yours, our service team is right here, with Subaru-trained technicians and genuine Subaru parts.
