Every 2027 Subaru BRZ runs a naturally aspirated FA24 2.4-liter SUBARU BOXER flat-four that produces 228 horsepower at 7,000 rpm, with a 184 lb-ft torque peak at 3,700 rpm. The flat layout lets the engine sit lower and farther rearward, and power reaches the rear wheels through a TORSEN limited-slip differential.

A close-ratio 6-speed manual with Incline Start Assist and a short-throw shifter is standard and EPA-estimated at 20 city, 27 highway and 22 combined mpg. The Limited also offers a 6-speed automatic with paddle shifters and downshift blipping control, EPA-estimated at 21 city, 30 highway and 25 combined mpg. Every tS is a manual car.

Both trims of the 2027 Subaru BRZ use the Subaru 8.0-inch Multimedia Plus System, built around a high-resolution touchscreen for wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The system also includes Bluetooth streaming, hands-free calling, voice controls and AM/FM HD Radio. Eight speakers, dual USB-A ports and a 3.5mm aux jack complete the setup.

Behind the leather-wrapped wheel, a customizable 7.0-inch digital instrument panel offers Normal, Sport and Track modes, and an integrated multi-function display adds a stopwatch, an oil temperature readout, a g-force meter and an engine power curve. The tS cluster gets STI design with cherry red accents and an STI welcome screen at startup.

The main safety change for 2027 is the latest-generation EyeSight Driver Assist Technology on every Subaru BRZ, manual or automatic. An added third, wide-angle mono camera gives it a larger field of vision. The EyeSight functions include Pre-Collision Braking, Lane Departure and Sway Warning, Lead Vehicle Start Alert and Adaptive Cruise Control for long I-75 stretches.

Two features depend on trim and transmission. Rear Automatic Braking comes with the available automatic on the BRZ Limited, and rear parking sensors with audible and visual alerts are new to the tS for 2027. Both trims carry a Rear-Vision Camera, High Beam Assist and side-curtain airbags for front and rear outboard occupants.

Red or blue accents tell the two cabins of the 2027 Subaru BRZ apart. Limited cars trim their black Ultrasuede seats with red leather-appointed bolsters and red contrast stitching. The tS answers with blue stitching and blue leather accents on black Ultrasuede and leather, plus an STI start button. Heated front seats are standard on both.

Keyless access with push-button start comes on both trims, as does dual-zone automatic climate control. Front legroom measures 41.5 inches and the rear buckets offer 29.9 inches. The trunk holds 6.3 cubic feet, and Subaru says folding the rear seatback makes room for four extra tires for a day at the track.

The 2027 Subaru BRZ stands 51.6 inches tall, spans 167.9 inches nose to tail and 69.9 inches across, and rides on a 101.4-inch wheelbase. Each trim wears 18 x 7.5-inch alloy wheels, matte dark gray on the Limited and dark gray metallic on the tS, with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 summer tires (215/40 R18).

LED steering-responsive headlights and LED taillights are standard, along with a black rear diffuser, front fender air outlets, body-color rocker spoilers and a trunk spoiler. The tS adds red BRZ badging on the headlights, tS badges on the grille and trunk lid, Crystal Black Silica mirror caps and antenna, and gold Brembo calipers.
